Document not saved error

After working for a while on an excel document, including performing several intermediate "save" commands, I got an error box reading "Autorecovery has been disabled for this session of Excel." I next tried saving the document and got the message "document not saved." I tried "save as" to different locations and got the same error message.

I know this is not a permissions issue because I had been regularly saving the document before. Save as also failed when trying to save to locations on which I know I have write privileges (the desktop for example).

All changes after the last save were lost. When I restarted Excel and reopened the document, I was able to perform both save and save as commands without problems.

I think I have ruled out document and location issues - this looks like an Excel bug - and one with quite unpleasant consequences.

I'm having exactly the same problem. I've narrowed it down to the copying of a specific worksheet to the end of the workbook. If I copy the sheet, the document won't save. If I don't copy it, it will save. I don't get it. But since the worksheet contains a lot of analysis that I want to apply to a different data set, it sure would be convenient to be able to copy it and paste in the new data.

Is there any chance you could send me a copy of the file you're working with
that has this problem? If it contains sensitive data maybe you could
overwrite the confidential portions of the document first and then save it
to a new file. It would be a big help in investigating this.

Thanks,

I'm having a similar issue. I open my excel doc using an alias (shortcut). When I try to save it says that the "file could not be found". If you click ok then it says, "document saved successfully." If you continue to work on the doc and hit save or save as you end up with a new message stating, "Document not saved." This is very aggravating. Any suggestions?
