Document Recovery wants to recover a nonexisting file

In XP Excel it is trying to recover a file that I can't
find on the system. It can't open the file, delete it,
save it, or show repairs. How can I get rid of the
Document Recovery screen coming up everytime I bring up
Excel. Unchecking auto recovery doesn't help because it
is per worksheet.
