Document Saved in Word 2007

I am about to rip my hair out! Someone in our office opened a report that is
used by everyone and they were using Word 2007. Since then it's been bandied
about in Word 2003 and maybe even Word 2007 a time or two.

The document has a mind of its own now. I've never seen anything like it.
I try and try to fix the file, i.e., reformatting paragraphs, fonts, etc.,
and it will seem like I am fixing everything fine and then WHAM! The whole
document gets all messed up again. I would rather not type the whole 88
pages again if I don't have to.

Does anyone know if there is a fix if someone "accidentally" saves something
in the Word 2007 format and I can use my Word 2003? Even the computers with
Word 2007 are having the problems with this file. Perhaps it is possessed?

Seriously, I imagine I'll have to type it all over again but if there's hope
please let me know?

Can you tell what is it thats keeping changing in your document? Because
everything has a fix. If it the document is saved .docx format and you cannot
read it in word 2003, you can download a office document converter at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA100444731033.aspx . If the issue is
known it can be tried. And at last if you cant do anything about it and need
to retype, try printing the document and then scan & OCR back to a new
document. This was you can save a lot of time.

Hi Msac,

Thanx so much for responding. I can highlight a paragraph that I will want
centered and the hourglass will flash and then all of a sudden the whole
document is centered. Sometimes, I can hit the undo button and it will
center only the paragraph I selected. Other times when working with one
paragraph, the font size in the next one will change. I can be on page 8
centering a title and it will center something on page 1 also. We are
working with numbered headings and they will all of a sudden become out of
sequence. I think the problem is the file has been opened and edited and
saved so many times alternately with 2007 and 2003 that my computer thinks it
is French and it is now trying to read Greek. I will try the convertor.
Perhaps that will fix it. In the meantime, I have pretty much finished
retyping the whole report.
