document saying modifiaction not allowed because selection locked

i have a saved document that i have modified many times now it wont let me it
just says at the bottom of the screen that this modifiaction is not allowed
because the selection is locked i havent put any locks on it!! if anyon knows
what i might hav don or how to get it off please help

Usually this means that you have failed to activate Word or that it is a
trial version that has expired.
