Document scanning with office 2007

Hi,
I have installed office 2007 professional plus, downloaded service pk 1 and
activated document scanning in add/remove program window.
However, when ever I try to scan a document in shuts down immediately giving
an error message: Microsoft Doc Scanning has encountered a problem and needs
to close.
There is no other clue on what is the reason.
I am pretty worried since a lot of my time is drained getting it fixed.
Can anyone please help me out?
