Does Office 2008 provide any type of document scanning and document imaging similar to the ones found in the Windows version Office 2007 located in the Microsoft Office Tools?

Unfortunately, no. I believe Twain support was precluded from Office 2008
due to the lack of support for VBA. There are no apps included in Office
2008 such as MS Document Imaging.

But there is support built into the Mac OS. You'll find Image Capture in the
Applications folder, which can scan, and place the images in a file and/or
on the clipboard where they can be inserted in any Office document.
