Document sent via Routing Slip will not mark as read

Hi,

I've made a form using a word template and I made a "Submit" button that
sends the form to a recipient as an attachment. This method works great
except the when the recipient receives the form in Outlook and views the
document, the message will not mark as being read (the icon remains as the
closed envelope) so the recipient doesn't know which forms he has viewed.

Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this so that when the recipient
views the form the message will appear as being read (open envelope icon)
just like regular email messages?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
