Document Size is wrong

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I have opened a 200+ page word document that was created on a Wintel platform. When I printed it I noticed that the pages didn't print the full 8.5x11 page with margins. Instead, it looked like it thought the page was 8.5.x9.

I looked at the vertical rule and that is what it looks like. I have gone back into document settings and made sure that I selected US 8.5x11 letter. I also verified that my margins are 1 inch all around. I have a header in the document with the title and page number. No footer.

When I open up a blank document the vertical length is correct for the letter size. Is there some other parameter that I need to check or change to make this main document correct. I also tried to copy and paste several pages, but the incorrect format comes along. I do not look forward to retyping 80,000 words!

If there is more information needed, I'll be happy to provide it to help get an answer.

Thanks, Jerry

A document can have multiple sections, and each section can have its own
margins.

The ruler is showing you where the bottom margin is set in the section
containing the insertion point.

Use Format>Document to check either the paper size or the margins.

Also note that just because you "think" there is no footer, does not mean
that Word agrees with you. Click Show/Hide so you can see your paragraph
marks, and check that there is REALLY nothing in the footer. Because if
there are two blank paragraphs with large line-spacing in the footer, Word
will push the content of the document up to make room for them, whether they
contain any characters or not.

If you can't solve it, create a new blank document, then carefully copy
everything EXCEPT the very last paragraph mark. The page formatting for the
document is contained in that last paragraph mark, if you do not copy it, it
won't come across.

Paste into the new document and you will have a new page setup.

Hope this helps
