Document Size

After working on a document, the size increased to almost
10 times the original size. The only way to get the size
down is to copy the contents of the document to a new
blank document. There must be another way - as it taks
time to set up the styles and everything again.

There are a number of reasons for excessive file size, including:

1. Fast Saves: Disable this at on the Save tab of Tools | Options.

2. Preview Picture: Clear the check box on the Summary tab of File |
Properties.

3. Versions (File | Versions): Make sure "Automatically save version on
close" is not turned on.

4. Revisions (Tools | Track Changes):
Highlight Changes: Make sure "Highlight changes on screen" is turned on.
Accept/Reject Changes: If "Accept All" or "Reject All" is available then
revisions are present; accept or reject all changes, then turn Track Changes
off.

5. Embedded True Type fonts (Tools | Options | Save); embedding fonts should
be avoided wherever possible.

6. Embedded graphics: When feasible, it is preferable to link the graphics.

7. Document corruption: See

Thanks for the reply.
I have checked all of the settings as specified below
except for using linked graphics, and none of these are
set up.
1. Will these graphics that are linked still work when
emailing the documents or would I have to email the
graphics as well?
2. Why does the document change in size after copying to
a blank document? I.e. my document after editing was
50MB, after pasting to a new document the size dropped to
1.8MD - thats a big difference.

Thanks
Felicity

No, if the graphics are linked, you'll have to send them with the document
(and with relative file paths), and this will cause problems. If you've
checked all the other possibilities, then I can't think of an explanation.
