Document Turns Black

HELP! I installed a Microsoft Office Pro 2003. The entire WORD document
becomes black after typing in the first letter. Not the screen though but
only the document that I am typing. THe other programs (Excel, access etc)
are ok. I
tried to re-install and repair the WORD program several times but it is
still the
same. Is it a setting problem?
