Document Versions

Good day,

I have read with great interest the different posts on the subject of
document versions. We can't say that there is a very practical tool in Word.
Aside from buying Docs Open or iManage, or any like applications, is there
something that users would recommend? Our problem is that one version sits
on the network. Two or three people work in that same document at the same
time. You can imagine the problems this creates. Password-protect? Not
good.

Using XP, Word 2003.

Any and all suggestions will be most appreciated!

Word is not a multi-user application. Only one person can work on a document
at a time. Assuming that saving the document as a template and creating new
documents from it won't suit you, there is nothing in Word that will allow
multiple users to simultaneously access the document.
