Document Windows in Word 2003

If I already have a document open in Word 2003, then I hit the new button,
use ctrl+N or File>new, once the new document is opened, Word automatically
toggles to the last previously opened window without provocation. Is this
just a normal function of 2003 I just don't know about? I did some checking
under TOOLS>OPTIONS>VIEW and GENERAL but found nothing that changed the
problem - windows in taskbar didn't seem to help and I found nothing in the
help files regarding this issue.

To re-phrase - when I hit File new, I want the new document to remain the
current doc window and not to toggle to the last document left open in Word.

Not normal behavior, do you have any 3rd party "key enhancers" or
perhaps malware/keyloggers installed?

Yes as a matter of fact, we do use a document management system attached to
the office suite - I did think think that might be at fault. The program
name is Docs Open <docsopen.exe> But this is so specific, not sure where to
look to correct the problem. Any general ideas?
