I have multiple templates in Word 2003 that are have address and other
variables added to create a documents. When the document is created it
looks fine on the screen but then if I hit the print button it prints
out garbage in the variable section and the variable section on the
screen turns to garbage. However, if I use print preview to print the
documents print fine.

Hi Dman,

This isn't ringing any bells, and printing problems aren't really my
strong point, but since no one else has responded, I'll take a crack.
Worst case, I can point you to the newsgroup that specializes in printing
problems :) word.printingfonts

I'm not really clear on what you mean by "variables" and "the variable
section". Nor what is meant by "garbage". If you could be more specific
about that, someone might recognize what's happening.

Based on the fact that first switching into Print Preview helps, I'd
guess either

1. You need to activate the "update fields" option in Tools/Options/Print

or

2. There may be a problem with your printer driver
