documents beneath toolbars "reopened"

Hello,
I use latest update of Word from Office v.X and encounter the same
issue posted by Nancy Alsip ([email protected]),
Betrifft:documents beneath toolbars, Datum:2004-07-27 06:27:02 PST.
The mentioned work-around, suggested by Beth Rosengard (post 3), works
fine with me. Thanks Beth!
My question: Ain´t there still no real fix for that? Can´t believe
that every time I open a new dokument I have to touch my 3 standard
toolbars funble around in order to have the dokument in the right
position (downriver the bars).
Beth, maybe you have some news on that?
Cheers,
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

This is not a bug. Once you successfully re-dock your toolbars, they should
stay that way unless you do something to un-dock them again. If you're
saying that you re-dock your toolbars, but the next time you open a blank
new document they're undocked again (and the document window is underneath
them), then one of two things is going on (I think):

1) The change needs to be made in your Normal template. To fix this, open
Normal, re-dock the toolbars, save and close. Now open a new document and
it should be okay.

2) The Normal template is corrupt. To fix this, quit Word, rename Normal
(i.e., to OldNormal) and relaunch Word. A new Normal will be created and
your problem should be gone.

For more on the Normal template, see here:

(If using Safari, hit Refresh once or twice; better yet, use another browser

Hope this helps.

Hi Beth,
thanks for answering! You are right ("they stay that way") and your
orignial post from last year actually did the trick already. Just
after opening this thread I tried out your suggestions and now
regardless of what typ of doc to open (new / old) it is located
properly downriver to the toolbars :) I then tried to deleat this
post, but wasn´t sucessful in doing so. I´m sorry for the
inconvenience I caused by "posting without trying out suggestions
beforehand". Nonetheless your information regarding normal.dot (the
link inclusive) might be helpful in the future as well!
Thank you!
Sebastian
