Documents change from computer to computer in office

When you open a word document from different machines in our office, the
formatting & edits change or doesn't appear! Does anyone know any steps I can
take to format word on each machine so that changes and formatting will be
consistent.

What version of Word are you using? What do you mean by "the formatting and
edits change or doesn't appear". Are you saying it appears to have reverted
to a previous version? Or are you saying changes made to the formatting
don't "stick" and are different? Or are you saying content changes, such as
added or deleted text, doesn't appear?
