Hi,
as the title says, word documents opened from within a webfolder in
Windows Vista are marked as read only and can thus not be edited. The
same document works perfectly with Windows XP + Office 2003 and also
Windows XP + Office 2007. Windows Vista + Office 2007 fails (i.e. read
only).
I mounted the webfolder through the "Map network drive" wizard under
Computer with the following URL scheme: "http://my.server.com/webdav"
and opened Word 2007 by double clicking on a Word file.
On the server side I have an Apache 2.0.63 with the integrated mod_dav
and mod_dav_fs enabled running on Windows Server 2003. Locking does
not seem to be the issue, because I am the only one testing/accessing
WebDAV and the DavLock of Apache is empty. I am using Digest
authentication and the user name looks like "someone@something" to
prevent the domain problem. Disabling authentication doesn't solve the
problem
The whole thing boils down to compatibility issues with the Office
2007/Vista combination and WebDAV.
Any suggestions or pointers are welcome. I am working on this Vista
compatibility for a week now. It is horrible, whereas XP worked out of
the box....
Regards,
Matthias Korn
