Documents open & lie under toolbars. How to fix?

Don Dupre

Is there a way of setting up so that when I open a document it does
not lie on screen with it's top bits under the toolbars. At the
moment, if I want to close or shrink a doc using my mouse, I have to
move it first. Daft.

Thanks for any advice

Hi Don,

Your toolbars have become undocked. To fix the problem, move the topmost
toolbar down a little. Then slowly move it back up into position in the
left upper corner until you see it become highlighted. Let go and if you
got it right, you'll see the document jump back into place below the
toolbars where it's supposed to be. If you miss it the first time, try it
again a little slower.

Happy New Year!

First, you can always resize documents using the Windows/Arrange
menu option. Windows may resize when you change screen resolutions,
and sometimes they just seem to have a mind of their own.

Second, check that your toolbars are properly docked - it's
annoyingly easy in Office v.X to accidently nudge a toolbar and have
it become undocked. If you nudge it back, you should see it
successfully dock and the windows move down accordingly.

If you're interested in locking the toobars in the dock using VBA,
post back and I'll get something written up for Word - I've already
got code for XL at

if you want to adapt it.
