Documents Open Slowly in Office 2003

Scott Bowden

I just got a new laptop with Windows XP and Office 2003 on it. When I try to
open an attachment in my email (Outlook 2003), it takes about 30 seconds to
open the document. It will do this for a while, then I shut it down every
night and it will work right for a few days (opens docs just fine), then a
few days later will start opening them slowly again. Docs were created using
Office 2000 on co-worker's machine. Any ideas?

Hi Scott,

Make sure that the printer selected in File=>Print in
Word is available when you start Word and open the
documents. This can also happen if the document calls
for a template that is in a location that is not availble
it can also come from your antivirus software settings.

try taking the c:\application data\microsoft\outlook contents out and saving
to folder on the desktop. This helps me sometime at work. One more item:
make sure that they are not looking for the path of the machine in the other
machine that they were created on. If so you can go into the registry and
look for the users pc name in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CLASSES\APPLICATIONS\"PC NAME". Delete this
entry.
