DOCX in Word 2004

How can I open/save to these files in Word 2004? Thanks..

Also I think this was a dumb move on MS's part changing formats.

Do you know how many employers out there use .doc? I was looking for a job
early last year and MANY employers wanted .doc resumes. I'd say the majority
only accepted .DOC and would reject PDF or HTML resumes. Well with the
exception of job based network boards (monster,hotjobs,careerbuilder), or the
employers own website.


But most of the jobs I applied too wanted a email resume. Changing formats
will complicate things thats for sure.

Hi John -

Just FYI, the new format offers significant advantages over the 10 year old
prior format - stability & efficiency being just 2. OOXML is also the
standard format in Office 2007, so most companies who weren't using it
"early last year" are quite likely using it now or will be in the near
future. As for the web sites... Well you might find their requirements
changing before long as well. Truth be told, I'd be a bit leery of any
employment service or prospective employer who insisted on an easily
*editable* resume or other personal document.

As for now, you can obtain converters for the .docx files from the Mactopia
web site which should work for you if your OS is at least 10.4.8:

Apple's Pages & Open/NeoOffice (among others) can open & save in he new
format as well.

Which download is it? I need specific directions to get the specific download I need to open .docx files. The above link leads to a page with a bunch of downloads without my knowing which one I need!

Just so happens that's the one you want Scroll to the bottom of the third
(Details) column & click the English (.dmg) link.
