Sorry am i being stupid, but i cant find how to open this?

I think i am having the same problem as described here.

Basically, i installed Microsoft 7 yesterday and i have windows vista. If i
go into word itself and go to open and open a DocX doc it opens. However if i
go into a folder and try and open it then it says, please choose a program to
open this document with?

Please help me sort it out! its doing my head in!!

What is "it" that you are trying to open. You say that if you "go into word
itself and go to open and open a DocX it opens" Why don't you try and open
"it" whatever it is, in the same way?

Hi

Sorry. I obviously didnt make myself very clear.

"it" i mean the word document. Yes i could open it through word each time,
but i should also beable to open it directly if on my desktop or in a folder.
its is really annoying. Also, if i have an email with a docx document, it
will not open. Surely this shouldnt happen if have microsoft7?

Hope that is clearer?

Hope you can help!

There is no such program as "microsoft7." There is Microsoft Windows 7 and
Microsoft Office Word 2007. Since we are discussing .docx files, presumably
you have (at least) the latter. You should be able to open these files from
Windows Explorer (Computer) by double-clicking, but if you can't, perhaps
you need to repair the file associations by reregistering Word. See
