docx

I am running word 2003 sp2 and have kept it updated. Someone has just
sent me a .docx file which I can't read.
I downloaded and installed FileFormatConverters.exe from MS but I still
can't read the docx.
Everytime I tried to load the docx file I get a message saying "this is
a pre-release version of he compatibility pack.... do you want to check
for a new version..."
I click yes but then only get the choice to download the
FileFormatConverters.exe I have already downloaded.
Can anyone tell me what is happening please?
Thanks
Chris

I believe what you need is the "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack",
rather than the converter you have downloaded so far. Find it at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/HA101686761033.aspx. It's a
rather large download, so be prepared to spend some time on it if you
don't have a speedy connection. The Compatibility Pack includes
support for the .docx format you're trying to open, as well as filters
for Excel and PowerPoint.

That link leads me to the FileFormatConverters.exe program which I have
already downloaded and which did not solve the problem.
