Does Access 2003 support JPGs?

I built a new computer and installed Access 2003 (this is not an upgrade) I
installed Access 2003 with all the features enabled. When I open up a
previous database that had jpg files in one of the fields, they currently
show up as MSPhotoEd3 files. I don't want to install MSPhotoEditor as I
believe that would be from Office 2000 and Office 2003 uses Office Picture
Manager which is installed and can open jpg files outside of access. When I
view the reports they look fine, same with forms. When I enter data and
click on one, it shows up with the error: the ole server isn't registered to
register the ole server, reinstall it.

If I create a new record and insert a jpg, it shows as a package file and it
doesn't display in my forms or reports

I finally gave in and installed just PhotoEditor from Office XP - it works
fine but I feel silly having to do that.

The display of .jpgs in Access forms/reports is dependent of MS Photo Editor
or other graphics filter. Be advised that storing photo images in Access
databases will tend to bloat them very quickly. The .jpg you store in say
an OLE Object field is actually monkeyed with or wrapped by Access,
resulting in an image file size much, much greater than the original .jpg.
I believe such bloating occurs even when you link to the image rather than
imbedding it.

Check out www.lebans.com for some alternate means of displaying such images
in forms and reports.
