Can somebody please tell me if word has got statistical symbols such as xbar
and mu. I can find very simple maths symbols but none of the more complex
ones. I was also wondering if I needed to download them from somewhere.
Thanks in adavance,
Adam

Word does an equation editor called Microsoft Equation 3.0. If you installed
Microsoft Office (or just Word) from a CDROM, you have it - it just may not
be installed in Word yet.

To find out how to do this, go to your help menu in Word and search for
"equation editor". You will get a help topic called "Insert an equation".
This will tell you how to insert an equation, and how to install this
feature. It will have over 150 math symbols, including integral, sigma, etc.

If this doesn't work, you can try a free 30-day download of Math Type from
Design Science. Math Type is nice because it can be used with other programs
too, not just Word (including web-based documents) Here is the link:

Hope this helps.

1. There are quite a few stats symbols available directly amongst the symbol
fonts normally provided (eg upper and lower case sigma). Go to Insert >
Symbol and explore.

2. You can create others (including xbar) using EQ fields: { EQ \O(x,¯) }.
If you need this a lot, create it manually once then select it and assign it
to an autotext entry with an associated hotkey.

3. You can use the equation editor for more complex expressions.
