Does anybody out there speak simple english?

I have simple questions. I don't write code. I am not a programmer. So,
when I want to know how to do something, where do I go for real simple
straight forward answers without all the gooble gooble you geeks like to talk
in?

Well, as far as I know I speak English and so do 99.9 percent of the folks
in here but without a question to answer I don't know if I or anyone can
help you. Although I'm not about the term geeks... today I'm not feeling
much like a geek, maybe a geekette!

If you have simple questions, ask them.

But you have to keep in mind that some times "simple" questions are not
simple. So you have to deal with correct and complex answers. If they
contain some gooble, then you should either take into account, that not
all folks here are nativ speakers (I'm not, as you should have noticed
when taking a look at my sentence structure) or it is simply some kind
of basic knowledge which can be easily looked up in the web...

.... and if it is gooble, then ask for clarification.

btw, calling someone a geek isn't that friendly/benign/gracious.

Yes, we do speak English. And for a good chance on getting a good explanation
this is one of the places. There are other forums out there that also can help.

If you have a problem and want a solution, you do have an obligation to inform
us that you don't have any technical ability and need an explanation that my
80-year old mother can understand. I can usually explain things to her with a
lot of detail and a lot of hand-holding.

If you don't understand an answer, then post back. I often post SQL
statements in reponse to questions about a query. If I strongly suspect that
the user is not conversant with SQL and only uses Query design view (the query
grid) to build queries, then I will often post the steps to build the query in
Query design view. SOMETIMES that is impossible to do as some queries cannot
be built using the Query design view.

If someone doesn't even know how to build a query with the Query design view,
then they need to develop at least that rudimentary (for Access) skill. If
they cannot do that, then they need to hire someone to help them.

of database structure or language.
If you wanted help in fixing your car would you not expect the person to
call the components by the correct name? Or do you perfer 'dohicky' and
'thingamagig' to alternator and starter?

confrontational. Why not just offer a valid solution instead of a hateful
defensive jab? The question was not directed at you as a person or even a
sex, the word geek can be taken positively, if you are a geek, you know you
are. So, geekeet, you got anything to offer of value?

Well here we go, assuming you know what you are talking about when you
haven't a clue. Instead of reponding with a soloution to the question you
take the typical pompous attitude of most Geeks. You have the answers but
you assume I (we, the general public) is too stupid to understand, so you
attack us as being as ignorant as your mother, shame on you. You might
(maybe) be smarter than I, but I'd bet my pickup against your Volvo station
wagon I could kick your little Geek ass.

should go online and read all the information I can about it and really
understand everything I need to know before I am entitled to ask the doctor
if I can beat this think or just lay down and die because I am too stupid to
"understand and speak his terminology"? Hmmm, interesting.

I tried to explain why you might be having a problem finding a solution.
Of course, if you had a specific problem I missed seeing it.

It seems as if you are trying to start a battle. Sorry, I opt out.

And as far as a physical confrontation - I am retired military and I
could probably defend myself very well against you. However, I am not
interested.

Good luck finding someone that will give you an answer. I know that I
will not attempt to help you when I can spend my time helping others.

Yes, that's the same answer you'll get from the doctor. If you want answers,
maybe it will take you many years to learn about cancer but you're probably
dead by than. Like wise, it will take the doctor many years to explain the
medical terms.
