Does anyone perform daily server event log monitoring?

We are a relatively new installation, and have been checking the event logs
daily on the servers running the Project Server application and SQL Server.

Is this a worthwhile practice? I've heard at least one Server Administrator
say he only looks at the server event logs if there is a specific problem.

Thanks for any recommendations.
