Hi,
I just installed Office 2004 Service Pack 2 today. I noticed two things when
running Entourage for the first time after the upgrade:
1) Office put up an error message telling me that I had an old version of
the Database Daemon running, and that I needed to delete it from Login Items
and restart the computer. I did this, and found that Entourage had put the
old version in my Trash, and installed the new version (upon launch, I
guess) in Login Items. So that seems to be taken care of by the install.
2) Office ran a series of progress windows showing the "upgrading" of the
various Office 2004 databases. That said, do you think or know if it's still
safe to run the Database Utility for compacting or repairing the Entourage
database?
An additional, random observation: HTML mails now seem to display faster
(under Tiger) than they did before the SP. Additionally, the whole program
seems to run a little snappier ‹ according to the release notes, this may be
due to Office getting along better with Spotlight. Sadly, though, Entourage
mails are still not Spotlight-friendly. Bummer!
Take care,
Steve
