Does marking an email as read actually open the e-mail?

Does any one know if marking an e-mail as read in the inbox actually opens
the e-mail even though you you don't doouble click it open or right click it
open?

Also make sure that you don't preview the message. Also, you can
always mark a message as unread even after it has been marked as read.

So what are you REALLY trying to do?
