Hello

Word 2000 (sp3) Does not Make First Letter of Sentence a
Capital Letter. This is not a matter described in kb241555.

This thing does not work even with plain letters without
form fields, hyperlinks or numbers.
Most grateful, Laura

Is the 'Capitalise first letter of Sentence' option checked under
AutoCorrect options?

Thanks, but unfortunately it is ON.
This problem occurs only with Windows2000 or Windows xp
and Office 2000. (not for exsamlple WIndows NT 4.0)

Most bizarre! Try starting Windows in Safe Mode and testing: from Start, Run
type in

winword /a

and press enter. Word will start in safe mode. Type a few test sentences in
the blank document and see if the First letter capitalises on its own now.

From these symptoms, I would guess that you must have some third party
add-in that is incompatible with the latest version of Office. Try
temporarily removing an add-ins or special templates or anything in Startup
and see if that eliminates the problem.

Hello Terry.
First i want to thank you for answering.
We have found that the capitalize thing does not ot work
if I have English version installed and a finnish language
in it. It does not capitalize the Finnish text, English it
does.
I'll keep on testing
Have a nice life

That's an interesting combination! Possibly there is a problem with some
English add-in that is incompatible with Finnish.

Hello
I sent this problem to Microsoft and they answered somehow
like this: This looks like a bug in Word2000.However, this
issue is solved in WD2003.
The workaround is to Press SHIFT+F3 to change the case of
the character to a capital letter."
So we'll just have to update to 2003 (if w want to use
Capitalize automatically in finnish)
Thanks again
Laura

Oh well: another bug unlikely to be fixed now.

Thanks.

Terry
