Perhaps you still have a 2003 component installed?
Is anything pertaining to 2003 shown in Add/Remove dialogue?

Yes there is an installation called Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components. I
have never had Office 2003 loaded on this computer. Is it safe to remove the
Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components or should i just leave it? i don't want
to keep getting Office 2003 update requests if I don't need them.

If you have a separate installation for the Office 2003 Web Components then
perhaps at some point a web page containing Office components was used, such
as an interactive Excel workbook saved as HTML or a Data Access Form from
Access (also an HTML file), which require Office Web Components to be
installed to use the pages. Do any of these sound familiar? If so, you
should leave them and install the update since it contains some security
fixes. For more information see this article:

I went to the like you listed below and read it. I tried t load the Office
2003 Web Components Service Pack 1 for the 2007 Office system as instructed
but I got a message saying that there were no components loaded on my
computer that required the Office 2003 Web Components Service Pack 1 for the
2007 Office system so it was not installed. During Windows updates I still
get the request to install Office 2003 SP3 update. Should I install the
Office 2003 SP3 update? Does it help with anything in Office 2007?

Hi TBL,

If you've uninstalled the Office 2003 web components and don't have any Microsoft Office product 2003 viewers installed (and have
restarted the PC after uninstalling the web components) then you usually wouldn't be seeing the update. Otherwise installing it
shouldn't hurt anything with your 2007 installation and keeps the 2003 products closer in synch for possible security issues.

Bob,

Thanks. I'll try uninstalling the Office 2003 web components and if it
turns out I do need them for some reason then I'll put them back. Great to
hear that if I did install office 2003 SP3 that it will not hurt anything.
finding this out was my main reason for starting this queston.

Thanks........
