Does Office 2008 English include other languages?

Jeremy

Hi,

I am currently in the UK, away from my motherland. I would like to buy Office 2008 but I haven't been able to find someone confirming that the new DVDs include other languages in addition to English (in my case, French)?

Could you confirm me that?

Thanks.

Hi Jeremy,

it depends on what you mean when you say "language". Non-English
*proofing tools* are included with the English version of Office, so if
you want to use the spell checker in French or German, that will work as
expected. However, the English version does not include any non-English
* UI (user interface) languages*; this means that the menus and
dialogues will be in English only. In other words, not much has changed
in that regard since Office 2004.

Yes I did talk about the UI. So my only solution is to buy it in France...

I wish Office had become a true multilingual application which seemed possible with the new package-based (no more old-school binary) applications.

Thanks for your precise answer. I look forward to using the new suite.

Well... Your only solution is "to buy a French language version."

You do not have to buy it in France. But you have to buy the French
version. You would be able to order that through any Microsoft office.

Cheers
