Does Office Update always require the original CD?

Al Dykes

The one time I tried to run Office Update iut asked me for the
original CD which was a PITA becuase the original disks were packed
away and out of easy reach. It was an office 2003 system.

Does ffice XP work the same way and is there a way to do updates
without inserting the CD.

WIll copying the CD to a folder on teh CD drive do it?

Hi,

Most of the Office updates might not require the installation source.
However, if the update website cannot locate the required installation files,
then is when it prompts for the Office Disc.
If you have trouble locating the Discs, you could try manually installing
the same update by searching at MS Website and downloading/installing the
Full-file related to that update.
If that fails too, then you will definitely require the installation source.
