Does Outlook spellcheck in multiple languages at the same time?

One of my co-workers indicated that Outlook 2003 was running automatic
spellchecks in both english and french at the same time. However since
changing the formatting settings for his email he has indicated it doesn't do
it any longer.

I've never heard of the automatic spellcheck run multiple languages at the
same time.

Does anyone know if this is at all possible? If so how do you set it up.

I have never seen Outlook checking more than one language. Here's Microsoft
Help feature on the subject:

If you have multiple languages enabled, Microsoft Outlook checks spelling
one language at a time. After checking the spelling for one language, you
must select another dictionary and check the spelling again. Repeat the
procedure below for each language.

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling tab.
In the Language list, click the dictionary you want to use to check your
spelling.
