Does project flag?

P

Piers Barrow

Hi

I'm looking into project for work. Does anybody know if
project is able to flag upcoming projects? I've
downloaded the trial but the help isn't being much help.

Can you please elaborate on what you mean by "flag upcoming projects"?

Re the Help ... read the Tutorial (in Help) as a good first intro to
Project. The Project Map (also in Help) explains how you will interact
with Project. This may help answer your question.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

What I mean by flag is can project make a visual / audible alert that an upcoming task is about to start. I've had a look through the help but there doesn't seem to be any reference to this. It's most likely I'm missing the subject or microsoft call it something totally different

Many thank

Project Server 2002 and 2003 have a notifications and reminders engine that
can send an e-mail to resources to remind them of upcoming tasks. Hope this
helps.

Thankyou that's fantastic, exactly what I needed. Do you feel project server is a worthwhile investment for a small business? We have around 13 resources

Many Thank

Pier

Piers,

Server will bring with it a lot of implied expectations about how your
PM's and the resources will work together and collaborate using the
product. Probably best if you look at the extensive material Microsoft
publishes about the product as a first step (www.microsoft.com/project)
to see if it fits your organsation currently ... and more importantly,
how you want it to be.

To decide if it's worth it, of course, depends on the costs vs.
benefits. Buying and installing the software will be relatively
inexpensive and easy. Deciding how to configure and then working with
the people will be the part that takes time.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
