Does PWA 2003 require WSS to work?

Project Server 2003 SP2a. We want to remove the Project Server team sites
from the portal in prep for a MOSS 2007 upgrade. We do not want to upgrade
project server. Can we leave our Project Server 2003 alone and do an upgrade
of Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 to MOSS 2007 with users who use project
server using only PWA and their Project Professional Desktop? We also
wondered if the team sites that are currently there would retain their
document libraries and other portal information? It is my feeling that
connectivity to the project server will be broken so the Report Viewer
webparts and all other plugins will be lost but the team sites will retain
their document libraries.

We really don't have a significant user base utilizing the project server
web parts anyway. It is my feeling that anyone who still needs to view
schedules and resources should be able to continue using PWA after the
upgrade.

Hi,
PWA is hosted in IIS. The only reliance on WSS2.0 is for docs, issues,
risks etc. So, if you upgrade to WSS3.0 then you will loose the Project
Workspace functionality of of your PS2003 environment. PS2003 will not work
with WSS3.0.

If you need to keep the Project Workspace functionality within PS2003 then
you will need to keep WSS2.0 in your environment, alongside your new WSS3.0
installation.

Hope this helps...
