Does Snap-To-Grid work? XP 02

Access XP 02

Whether i switch snap to grid on or off makes absolutely no diff
Doesn't matter what i set GridX & GridY to - makes no diff

I know about the alignment controls but it doesn't help much

Aligning controls on busy form is a total nightmare (taking me longer than
the programming - which is crazy)

if anyone has ever got snap-to-grid to work at all then please post -
otherwise i'll assume it's just another bug and M/Soft put it on the menu
just for show, along with picture compression in Word

If snap-to-grid works in XP 2003 i will buy it tomorrow

I just create a new, blank Access 2002 format mdb and the snap to grid
worked as expected. Are you sure your Format->Snap To Grid is checked?

I have never had a problem with it from A2 through AXP.

The only annoying behavior is when I move a control with an
attached label. Since both controls are moving at the same
time, it seems to snap the left most and/or top most point
of whichever control is further to the left or highest,
which is at best confusing.

Note that I often find it easier to select a bunch of
controls (by holding down the shift key) and type or paste
their Top or Left property to guarantee their alignment.

Works fine in my AXP.

I am using the metric system and the major grid lines are 1 cm apart. I set
the GridX and GridY to 5 to see the minor grid (dotted) lines and Controls
clearly snap to the major/minor grid lines.

My fault ~ - I had GridX/Y set to large number = more control = work
opposite way round to what i expected - I now have them set to 5 and i can
see it working & it's much easier )
