Does the Academic MS Office OneNote2003 have an expiration date?

I'd like to know what limitations are placed on purchasing the Academic
version of MS Office OneNote2003.
Would it be better to buy the full retail version?
Where do you buy the plug in pen to draw on your laptop with OneNote?
Thanking you all in advance,
Aleksandar.

The versions are identical, Aleksandar. The only difference is you probably
need to prove eligibility for the academic discount. The pen (Ink) is only
fully accessible on a Tablet PC because of the digital system which
recognizes pen input at three to four times quicker than using the mouse
speed on a laptop.

Luckily, I can prove that I am a student. I find it strange that a salesman
at a local computer shop tells me that the Academic versions of MS products
expire after about 4-5 years. I need clarification on this point before
making my purchase.
Have you ever heard of such a limitation? Where can I get a definitive
answer on this? The same pc company has versions of MS Office saying that it
is
"MS MLF Office...& is a disk kit MVL CD."
Can you tell me what these acronyms mean?
Thanking you in advance, Aleks. :)

I've never heard that about an expiration, but I've also never heard of MLF
or MVL designations either. I'll check, or perhaps someone else will have
the information before I get back to you.

Can you tell me what these acronyms mean?

MLF = Microsoft Licensing Fulfilment

MVL = Microsoft Volume Licensing

http://www.microsoft.com/Education/ProductActivation.aspx

"In order to allow volume license customers to install multiple versions of
products with Product Activation without activating each installation
separately, Microsoft provides you with Volume License Product Keys that
override Product Activation. These keys only work when installing from
volume license CDs or MSDN® media. This is important to remember as
Campus/School Agreement Starter Kit CDs, Microsoft Licensing Fulfillment
(MLF) CDs (Microsoft product CDs purchased through your reseller), Select
CDs and MSDN CDs no longer include a Product Key on the CD or packaging.
Additionally, Retail CDs (boxed product purchased from a retail outlet) can
no longer be used for multiple installations. Campus/School Agreement
Starter Kit CDs, MLF CDs, Select CDs and MSDN CDs are the only media
available for multiple installations"

Chris is correct in saying that the Academic version of OneNote is no
different than the standard version that you buy in a retail store. Academic
versions of the product are typically sold through campus bookstores and you
will have to prove that you are a student to be eligible to purchase. The
estimated retail price for the Academic version is $49.99.

There shouldn't be an expiration date on your academic version of OneNote.
Once you purchase the product, you own the license to use this product and
you are allowed to install the program on 2 separate PCs.

thanks,
Christina

Thanks, Christina. I couldn't find anything positively stating otherwise,
so held off posting.
