Does the new Apple Remote work with PowerPoint 08?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Hey everyone,

I know that the old Apple remotes are supposed to work for giving presentations but can anyone confirm that the new remotes work also? I suspect that they do but I'd rather not buy one specifically for giving presentations and then find that it doesn't work or doesn't work well. Thank you.
