Does Visio 2002 have Unicode Support ?

I am trying to name a Visio file with Japanese characters and trying to name
layers, custom property using japanese characters on a Win XP SP2 system. I
have installed complex script support in the regional settings. Still Visio
2002 Pro displays such characters as "???" in layers dialog box or in the
custom properties window and does not allow me to save files with Japanese
characters in the file name.
Which makes me ask this question, does Visio 2002 support Unicode?

Unicode was added in Visio 2003.
