Martyn

Ihave an external floppy drive. When I try to open a wrod docuement with word
2003, word stops responding and the file does not open. Does anyone know how
to correct this?

G'Day Martin,

Opinion has it that editing on a Floppy drive (or a Rewritable CD) is bad
practice. Word creates temporary files that can cause problems, including
filling up the Floppy.

Copy the file to your Hard Drive, edit it there and, when finished, copy it
back to the Floppy.

Never ever read from, write to, or print from floppy with Word. These are
the most certain methods of ensuring document corruption.

Copy to the hard disc and work on the document from there.

This is equally relevant to other removable media such as CDRW.
