Does Word 'heat up' a pc?

I know its an odd question, but my computer seems to behave oddly when
I open up Word 2002 - the fan keeps coming on to cool my computer
down. I wouldn't mind so much, but my fan is quite loud and drowns out
the surrounding environment.

And it only typically happens when I run Word - other (multiple)
applications will run simultaneously without the fan coming on. Word
can be the only application running - and the fan comes on.

I'm not sure the system details are all that relevant - suffice to
say, its relatively new (six months old)...and I only experience this
problem with Word.

So, what's up with that?

If you're viewing the document in Print Layout view, Word is constantly
doing background pagination as you edit the document. Depending on your
settings, it may also be checking spelling and grammar, doing hyphenation,
watching for AutoCorrect triggers, and various other jobs you aren't
normally aware of. And that's in a healthy document -- one with some minor
corruption may be causing even more CPU activity.

You can try working in Draft view (and then going to Tools > Options >
General and unchecking Bacground Pagination), turning off background
spelling (use F7 when you need it), turning off automatic hyphenation until
needed, turning off AutoCorrect and all the AutoFormat As You Type
options... By the time you've pared down Word to the same capabilities as
NotePad, you might get the fan to stop. <g>

.... and set all tables to fixed width, if you do have tables.
