Does Word use Outlook Address book for Faxes??

I assume the address book in Outlook is the one that Word accesses for faxes.

I have entered a name and fax number in Outlook. However, when I go to
Word, it shows the button for the address book, but I can not seem to find
any entries. Since there is only one entry, it is not a matter of filtering.

If my assumption regarding Outlook?word is incorrect, how can I add a name
to the Fax Wizard when I click on the Address book button. There is nothing
there to add new name.

I am using Word 2007 with Outlook 2003.

Your guidance is greatly appreciated.

must match for that operation. You can export your Outlook Address Book to
an Excel sheet and use that as the source for Word 2007.

comes up. That fax wizard contains the button for the Address Book.

I can send a fax that way by typing the fax number each time.

I am not sure where to find the fax software you mention. Where would I go

I have an Excel address book on my hard drive. When the Fax Wizard opens it
does not allow me to "browse" or otherwise indicate the path where that

Print-> Fax isn't a valid choice. That option has to be added by some add-in
possibly the fax software you've got installed. Control Panel-> Add/Remove
Programs will tell you what applications there are installed on your
computer. Possibly the Fax Wizard could give you some clue about which
application is being used.

If it's in Vista with Office 07 You diffinitely can do that with the Windows
Fax and Scan utility.

Print-> Fax isn't a valid choice. That option has to be added by some add-in

least that is what it said in Control Panel Add Remove Programs. When I look
it up in Control Panel under Modem it adds AC97 with a CXT Driver.

I think perhaps you have not correctly identified your fax software. You
seem to be posting information about your modem and its drivers, which are
not in play.
Microsoft's Fax software vary, but most will use whatever Contact manager
you have set for your operating system for their address book.

But your only choices will be the Outlook Address Book or the Windows
Address Book, so you would have to import your Excel spreadsheet into one of
those places

Yes, but that is not in the Print section and you still have to configure a
fax account first ;-)

Thanks for the prompt reply Russ.

Can you teach me how to identify the fax software? Initially, I was told to
go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. When I did, the only thing that
appeared, using Fax in the name, was Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP.

I have even tried Start>All Programs>Accessories>Communications>Fax>Fax
Console. And while there is an Import option, it is only for importing sent
and received faxes that are stored elsewhere.

I need your guidance.

I think perhaps you have not correctly identified your fax software. You
seem to be posting information about your modem and its drivers, which are
not in play.
Microsoft's Fax software vary, but most will use whatever Contact manager
you have set for your operating system for their address book.

answer questions.

How about this. Let's say it is software that you do know about and lets
say
it is also supported by Microsoft...if both conditions were true, how
would
you get an Excel file to speak with the address book? I will make a leap
of
faith and assume if a supported MS software package can do it, my software
might be able to do so as well.

How could we answer questions about third party software we have never
seen
and that Microsoft does not support?

Sorry I am causing such problems. I do appreciate everyone helping.
I am using XP. The Software is called Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP.
At
least that is what it said in Control Panel Add Remove Programs. When I
look
it up in Control Panel under Modem it adds AC97 with a CXT Driver.
What do I need to do to allow Excel's address book into the fax
software??

Print-> Fax isn't a valid choice. That option has to be added by some
add-in
possibly the fax software you've got installed. Control Panel->
Add/Remove
Programs will tell you what applications there are installed on your
computer. Possibly the Fax Wizard could give you some clue about which
application is being used.

When I am in Word, I go to Office Button>Print and select Fax. A
fax
wizard
comes up. That fax wizard contains the button for the Address Book.

I can send a fax that way by typing the fax number each time.

I am not sure where to find the fax software you mention. Where
would
I
go
to find that answer?

I assume the address book in Outlook is the one that Word accesses
for
faxes.

I have entered a name and fax number in Outlook. However, when I
go
to
Word, it shows the button for the address book, but I can not
seem
to
find
any entries. Since there is only one entry, it is not a matter
of
filtering.

If my assumption regarding Outlook?word is incorrect, how can I
add
a
name
to the Fax Wizard when I click on the Address book button. There
is
nothing
there to add new name.

I am using Word 2007 with Outlook 2003.

Your guidance is greatly appreciated.
