Doing a Search and Replace on Status Manager - OK now?

At one time, this could not be done due to bugs. We are at SP2 +
December CU. Is it OK now to perform a Search and Replace on Status
Manager? Is there an issue with that change being applied to Summary
Tasks as well as the Project Summary or should this be done with a VBA
loop ONLY to individual tasks?

In case you are wondering we do lots of reorgs and sometimes a manager
leaves and a replacement will take over projects that once were
managed by the former manager. So, we want the new person to be the
new Status Manager.

Thanks

If I were the new PM, I would select my name in the Status Manager for the
first task, press the Enter key on the keyboard, reselect the cell with my
name in it, and then use the Fill Handle to fill my name into every other
task. Or, I would select all of the cells in the Status Manager column,
from the cell with my name all the way to the last task in the project, and
then click Edit - Fill - Down.

I suppose you would use Search and Replace as well. By the way, Search and
Replace was the only way to work around a bug with the Fill Down feature in
pre-SP1 Microsoft Project 2007. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale. Now I remember, it was the fill down that wouldn't
work. Is there an issue with the Status Manager changing on Task
Summary and Project Summary lines?
Haven't thoroughly understood why there is a Status Manager on those
anyway.

No problem whatsoever. The Status Manager information is meaningless for
summary tasks and for the Project Summary Task as well. Hope this helps.
