DON'T ALLOW EDITED PHOTOS IN PICTURE MANAGER EASILY OVERWRITTEN!!

O

omernos

It's terrible how when you're trying to edit (resize, change levels..etc) in
the picture manager and saving the image EASILY overwrites the original!!!!

The incident happened to me a lot of times, as well as my friends
complaining about this feature. I just don't understand why would it be so
quick? Why not like any 'NORMAL' photoediting program or even your other
office softwares ASK whether to overwrite it or not!

Instead of pushing people away from using Office tools, there should be a
development that causes these softwares or programs to be more convinient
(especially to users who use other photo-editing suites).

I am so pissed off,
because I lost hell loads of originals just because I clicked "Save" which
hurries and with no questions asked overwrites the original. It's so
frustrating!

And if anybody would ask
"If you use your other photo-editing softwares"
I reply
"Sorry I even gave a damn to write all this!"

Correct. My question to the OP was, why would you not be serious in your
reply?

The question was why does the Picture Manager overwrite the original? It
won't if you save as a new name from file.

I'm suggesting here,

for God's sake I know how to "Save-As"
but I thought we'd get to suggest ways of enhancing programs...

because I mentioned that I use other photo-editors,
and this is a basic step she should expect that I know...

My point here is not "How"
i'm not asking, I just wanna be heard out.

Hi Omar,

If I understand you correctly you're looking for a confirmation prompt when saving changes to a file you selected to be opened for
editing in Picture Manager?

Basically, MS Office Picture Manager was setup to work in a way that's basically consistent with other MS Office apps when it comes
to saving files, being primarily an organizer with limited editing capabilities. When comparing the operation to a picture editor
then it wouldn't seem to follow those and it would be nice to have the choice to be prompted for the confirmation, but it's more on
the following lines in the present version.

If you open a file in Word, Excel or Powerpoint for editing, make changes to the file and then choose to click on 'Save' (or Ctrl+S)
your originally opened file is replaced by the changed document and you are not prompted with a replace command.

Once you choose 'edit picture' in Picture Manager it's the equivalent of 'File=>Open(for editing) in the other apps). If you don't
specifically choose 'save' in any of these then the changes aren't made and the file is 'closed' to its previous version. If you do
choose Ctrl+S or Save on an open file the changes are made (i.e. old version of file replaced with the new version).

Perhaps the next version will include a confirmation option.
