Don't laugh - need help w/basic reporting questions

Sorry, have never worked with Project reporting before and after much
searching I cannot find the answer.

1. I'd like to produce a report that lists all tasks where the status column
is equal to "Late". I tried creating a new report based on a view that
contains this column but I cannot seem to find a way to filter on this
column. I know the answer must be really simple.

2. Also, if you can help, along these same lines I'd like to create a
project view with a column containing a graphical indicator for the status
field that is red if status = late and lets say green if on schedule.

Thanks a million!

Hi Matt,

For your first question, create a custom filter (Project > Filtered For >
More Filters > New) to show only your tasks that you have specified as
"Late". (Without knowing the details on your "Late" field it's tough to tell
you the details on the filter.) Then when you create the custom report you
can select your custom filter on the Definition tab for the report.

For your second question: I recommend Mike Glen's site for some great
tutorials on this topic, specifically "Microsoft Project: 15 - Customizing
Fields2". His series of articles can be found at:

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

P.S. I didn't even smile when reading your post - let alone laugh ;-)

Julie, thanks for the quick reply. I think you nailed #1 right on the head!
Thanks!. For number 2 I head found that site and read through it but was
still struggling. However, I just found another post that indicated that the
status field actually contained numeric values (0-3) not the status that
actually displays in the column (Late, On Schedule, etc.) now I think I have
it!

Thanks again!
