Don't want Connector to sync my Live calendar

I'm not sure my subject line is really descriptive, but here's my problem. I
have had a Hotmail Plus account for many years and have always used it with
Outlook. I recently received e-mail saying that by this September Outlook
Connector would be required to use Hotmail with Outlook. So I went ahead and
installed the Connector a few weeks ago. I don't use Live Calendar and I
don't want to (see below). Since installing the Connector, any calendaring I
do other than just entering an appointment on my Outlook calendar (such as
inviting attendees, downloading an Outlook calendar entry when I make a plane
reservation on an airline website, accepting someone else's e-mail calendar
invitation, etc) assumes I want the entry made into my Live Calendar -- the
one that shows up in Outlook at "My Calendar in (e-mail address removed)" -- and NOT
into my regular Outlook calendar.

That's not what I want to happen -- I want it to go to my regular Outlook
calendar. I use a Blackberry with BIS, and the Live calendar is not syncable
from Outlook with the Blackberry. So I want to continue to use my Outlook
calendar, not Live calendar. But it seems I cannot delete the Live calendar
from Outlook or make Outlook ignore it, or make my regular Outlook calendar
my "default." Or can I? I have a long history with my hotmail account, but
if I'm stuck with this situation I'll have to make the painful switch to
gmail.

Two more things to mention:

1. Using Outlook 2007
2. Under "Account Settings," Outlook.pst shows us as the default for data
files.

Yes, just Hotmail. Example of what happen: I make a flight reservation on
the Delta website. they have the option to add the detail s to Outlook.
Previously I would click this option, then click open. An outlook
appointment dialog with all the flight details would open. I would save and
close and the "appointment" would be in my Outlook calendar. Now it shows up
in the "My calendar at (e-mail address removed)" calendar instead. I typically copy
the appointment to the Outlook calendar, then delete it from the "My
Calendar..." However, Outlook "knows" this is not the original entry.
Invitations, etc., don't "match" to the new copied entiy.

So I tried this: I just made a flight reservation for my son this
afternoon. Instead of "opening" the Outlook calendar item from Delta as I
used to do, I tried "saving" it and then importing it into the Outlook
calendar. Seemed to work fine - no entry in "My Calendar..." I then
"invited" my son using Outlook ("Invite Attendees"), with the invitation
obviously sent using my Hotmail account. However, when my son "accepted" the
invitation, his automated acceptance e-mail said "This meeting is not in the
Calendar; it may have been moved or deleted." It's clearly still in the
Outlook calendar, so i assume that once again it is looking for it in the"My
Calendar in (e-mail address removed)."

meeting requests sent using hotmail will go into the hotmail calendar.

do you use the online features of hotmail? If not, you could use POP3 to
access it and remove the outlook connector. it will use your local calendar
then.

Thanks for your quick replies.

I have set up Hotmail POP3 in Outlook a few times in the past but I didn't
see any of my Hotmail folders except Inbox, so my assumption is that's a POP3
limitatino. My folders are critical to my staying organized. Was I just
missing a step or are they not available w/POP3?

Number 2 is why when you add events they show up at the Hotmail Live calendar.
Change your default to the local data file.

That's what I was afraid of. Another question then. My Blackberry rebels
against any notion of trying to sync with the Live calendar ("My calendar in
(e-mail address removed)" in Outlook). Is it possible to sync it with the BB? Or is
there any way to sync, and automatically keep in sync, the Live Calendar and
my Outlook Calendar?

Correct, pop3 is the inbox only. You need to use the connector to access the
other folders offline.

I don't know of any way to sync BB with hotmail but you might try the
blackberry forums - along with the forums at the official blackberry site,
there are good forums at crackberry.com and at howardforums.com

outlook.pst should be the local pst, not the hotmail account. The connector
uses this format for names:
alias_msn.ost
