Don't want Normal View

B

Bruce

Hi All,

I have researched this question for a while and haven't found an answer.
Several months ago, everytime that I open a word document, either a new
document or an existing one, it always opens in normal view. I prefer print
layout, and have to manually do it each time I open a document. This happens
even though the document is saved in print layout or reading layout. I
suspect this started when I opened a document in an email that was set to
normal view and something happened that makes it open always in open view. I
never use normal view and need to fix what is causing this. Anyone have any
idea what's going on? Thanks in advance.

Thanks Suzanne. I'm having the problem even opening existing documents, not
just new ones. Does the normal.dot template have anything to do with this?
I do often use the reading layout, and normally close it in this view. Could
this be the problem?

If you close in Reading Layout, then I guess there's no telling what you
might get the next time out. Try switching to Print Layout before your final
save.

You could create an autonew and an autoopen macro in the normal template to
force you preferred view regardless of what is saved with the document - see
