Don't want Shapes, Template Help

I save diagrams without the Shapes on the left and the
Template Help on the right.

When I re-open the diagram, the Shapes and Template Help
are back again. How can I prevent this?

The Shapes window setting is not persisted unfortunately. You can control
the visibility of Template Help by going to Tools > Options > General >
Service Options > Online Content (totally discoverable, huh?). Uncheck the
box for template help.
