Don't want the time to automatically update

I put the Time Icon on the tool bar. It inserts the time where I want but
if I close the document and then open it later it changes to the new time
that I reopen the document. Is there a way to stop the time from updating
in the document?

You need to use a CreateDate field instead of the Date or Time field. See

Set your toolbar command to insert a CREATEDATE field with a time switch
eg { CREATEDATE \@ "hh:mm" } - see help under 'general switches' for the
different time formats.
or set it to call a macro

Sub TimeNow()
Selection.InsertAfter Format((Time), "hh:mm")
Selection.EndKey Unit:=wdLine
'Selection.TypeText Text:=vbTab
End Sub
