Dot Leadering

I have a question that is kinda out there. In a word
table you can set it so that the empty space from the end
of the word to the next column is filled with ..... ex
test........
one.........
two.........

And the dots all line up very nice and neat.
I need to know how word figures out the spacing required
to make the dots line up with non fixed width fonts ex
times new roman.

Ultimately I want to be able to write some code that lines
up the dots in excel

Thanks for the help

Thanks for the info. Do you think there is anyway to
write some code that does the same thing word does in its
tables to make the dots line up correctly?

I appreciate your response.

I think what I'm telling you is that the dots will line up properly by their
very nature.
