Dot/Period not displayed properly in tables

This problem has just happened recently and I believe
after I installed the OS/IE security patches.

I have tables that I imported from Oracle databases. For
some reason, the . is not displayed properly. In its
place, I see two little "mi" characters. If I cut and
paste a cell to someplace else, e.g. notepad or word, or
export the table to Excel, then I do see the period or
the dot.

I'm running Access 2002 on XP. I have tried to uninstall
Access and reinstall it, but this does not help.

Thanks in advance for any help!

What font have you set for the textbox?
